What are water soluble vitamins?

Water-soluble vitamins dissolve in water. This means that any excess amounts of these vitamins leave the body through the urine. These vitamins need to be replenished often and a continuous supply of water soluble vitamins are needed daily.

Vitamin B1 - Vitamin b1 is a water soluble vitamin that is essential to several bodily functions in that it aids the nervous system and is essential for the functioning of important enzymes. Vitamin B1 is essential for the body to be able to use carbohydrate as an energy source as well as for metabolizing amino acids. Thiamin is available in nutritional supplements in the form of thiamin hydrochloride and thiamin nitrate.

Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) - Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) plays a role in the metabolism of protein and carbohydrates, and is used mainly in the body for the processing of amino acids.

Pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) - Pantothenic acid is needed to break down carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. Vitamin B5 is essential for human growth, reproduction and many normal bodily processes and assists with the production of vitamin D.

Biotin (vitamin H, vitamin B7) - Biotin plays a role in metabolism of fats, proteins and carbohydrates.

Folic acid (folate, vitamin B9) - Folic acid plays a role in human growth and development, in particular cell division and DNA synthesis.

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) - Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid is perhaps the most familiar vitamin to most. The body requires vitamin C to form and maintain bones, blood vessels, and skin. In addition Vitamin c helps to strengthen our immune system.
